A significant turnout of 70 members for today's hike led by President Ilo of York. Members met at Christie Station
Little did we know that toilets would play a part in today's activities. Here at Tim Hortons a universal line up has formed to use the ladies toilet as the mens is out of use
Ilo explains "what's happening"
To those that are listening
Before the hike commences we take a short walk up Christie St where Mary Ayers reads a passage from one of the Toronto Bookmarks
She reads from the "The Five Books of Moses Lapinsky" by Karen X Tulchinsky
It behooves the members to listen when someone is speaking
The group now set off south to the Enercare Centre where lunch will be taken. Here at Bloor St the first of several street crossing can be seen
Liliane confirms the count of 70
At Bickford Park, the first of several during the morning which included Art Eggleton & Fred Hamilton Playground
Sahib Barry back on the trail from his trip to India
Saluting Simon as we pass through Trinity Bellwoods Park
A washroom break at the Community Centre. Here I practice social distancing a soldier on in self isolation to the Enercare Centre
My route takes me over the relatively new Garrison Creek Crossing
"The wrong side of the tracks"
Over the bridge into Garrison Common I checked out the Strachan Avenue Military
Burial Ground used by soldiers and their families of the Toronto Garrison from 1864 - 1911
Crossing Strachan Avenue I arrive the impressive Enercare Centre
Lunch is consumed in the hallways sitting in the sun on benches
After 2,000 years Mary meets up with the 3 wise men again!
Setting off after lunch
Passing BMO Field. It will likely remain empty for a while due to the Corona Virus
Great spot to take in the view
The hike finishes at High Park Station for some. Others continue to Mackenzie's Pub
I must commend Ilo for his care and patience in leading a large group which required crossing streets, halting the group for folks to catch up and generous washroom breaks. Thanks to Liliane for counting and Yoshi for sweeping.
