PARKS & RAVINES

The Senior Hike today was the official one that Ann and I pre-hiked on Sunday. There was more snow today to contend with due to Monday and Tuesday's accumulation. We commenced the 11 km hike at Yonge and Lawrence with a good many members drinking Java in the adjacent Starbucks and using the bathroom before crossing the street. Ann led 33 participants over hill and down dale through Alexander Muir Memorial Gardens, the Blythewood Ravine Park and across Bayview to connect with Sherwood Park. We lunched in the Glendale College Cafeteria. Lots of food choices for those that did not pack a lunch. After lunch we retraced our steps to Sunnybrook Park. Our momentum was halted by two City of Toronto Bye Law Officers. They tried to inform us that due to our numbers we would require a permit from the city! Ann was very polite while I wanted to challenge them as I thought it was a load of BS! Sounds like something Donald Trump would do! Leaving the venerable officers we eventually crossed the bridge into Serena Gundy Park. Our final climb up the steep hill brought us onto the street level. It was a short walk to Shoeless Joe's at Eglinton and Laird. The pub has one of the best Barmaids we could wish for on our weekly travels.
