BRICKWORKS

Today with the Senior Hiking Club Barry took the subway to to Eglinton West. From there with 58 members we walked along the Belt Line, through Mt. Pleasant Cemetery to the Brickworks. There, we had lunch and then continued along the Don Trail to the Keating Channel Pub at Cherry Street. It was a longish hike of about 14 km. My feet were getting saw so to sit have a pint was heaven. We caught the bus from Cherry Street to Yonge & King subway station. The bus sure sure took a circuitous route getting there!

WEST TORONTO RAILPATH

For today's Senior Hike we met at Dundas West Station. We walked the West Toronto Rail Path. I found it a bit disappointing. It was a paved path running along side the Georgetown Go Line. It was only about 2 km long. There is a plan to extend it down to Union.

PETTICOAT CREEK

Today the hike with the Seniors Club was in the east end of the city. Barry drove Hilda and I to the starting point. We hiked through  Petticoat Creek, along the Rouge Beach and around Frenchman's Bay. The circular hike covered just over 7 miles.

CENTENNIAL PARK

I joined Barry for my second Senior Hiking Club walk. Today there was less people, about 30. We walked around the Centennial Park area. The pace was much better than last week. We covered about 6 miles. I learn't of some new paths particularly west of the Etobicoke Greenhouses. We ended the walk where we started and had a refreshing pint at a pub in the Burnhamthorpe Plaza.

MY FIRST SENIOR HIKE

I joined Barry and his Sister in Law, Hilda, on a walk with the Toronto Senior Hiking Club. We took the subway to Greenwood Station and met up with the group. It turned out to be popular as 54 members hiked down to the "Lion on the Beach" pub on Queen Street East. Midway we stopped for lunch at a Baptist Church on Gerrard Street East where the club held it's AGM. The meeting shortened the walk considerably. I enjoyed the walk and decided to join the club. Annual membership fee was only $10.
